How Do You Create a Luxurious Bath?

submitted on 16 October 2018
Your master bathroom revolves around you and your routine. Brushing your teeth, taking a bath, doing your skincare and make-up all happen in your master bathroom. The state of your bathroom, like the rest of the house, can affect your psychological well-being. When you lean towards order when you are attracted to the finer things in life, there are things you can consider for your luxury bathroom.

Keep your toilet in a separate room
Toilets being kept separate from your bathing area references a time when people had to use toilets outside of the house. Since there was no indoor plumbing, doing your business was exclusively done at a distance because of the smell and presence of germs. While having the toilet and the bath in the same room can be in the same place, people have carried over the habit and mentality of keeping the toilet separate.

When you have a large space for your bath, consider putting your toilet in a separate room. Any large gaps between your toilet and bathroom can be used as a general prep area. You can have your walk-in closet here or have a lounging area in case you are preparing with friends.

Have a lot of counter space
Nothing else screams luxury more than a beautiful stone countertop that can hold everything you need for your daily prep. A master bathroom typically has “his and her” sinks with the countertop stretching from one side of the room to the other. Besides being able to put all your things in one place without any issue, a long countertop allows you to showcase a more exciting design. Marble, granite, and other stone countertops have patterns and designs naturally present in the stone. When you have more space, you can keep the slabs intact.

Make it a room with a view
Having down lights and dimmers might be able to set the atmosphere at night. They, however, can never replicate natural light. When you are designing your bathroom, include windows and let in as much natural light as possible. The effect of getting ready with sunlight streaming through your windows can be calming and empowering. It also allows you to see yourself as you are, without the added effect of harsh fluorescent lights, or the softening of incandescent light.

A room with a view can also be a part of your relaxing routine. Instead of reading a book or watching a movie, you can soak while enjoying the scenery. Remember to take privacy precautions when you do. Ensure that there are no neighbours nearby and have a tint on your window just in case.

Select your features wisely
Your bathroom will not be complete without the proper selection of appliances, materials, and hardware. Whirlpool baths, a steam shower, and heated floors all scream luxury. They are excessive, but they have their uses. A whirlpool bath is often used on vacations, but the jets can help relieve body pain and muscle cramps. A steam shower is a step down from a sauna, but it helps clean out pores and relax muscles. Even heated floors can be useful in the winter.

When you are after the finer things in life, you are designing your world to be in its most comfortable state. Live to enjoy it!
